Materials Manager
Location: On-Site role - Meriden, CT 06451
Salary Range: $100k - $110k/year
Materials Manager
Responsible for the overall control and or movement of materials in and out of the plant. This involves responsibility for directing and administering purchasing, production planning, scheduling and inventory control as well as warehouse stock control, warehousing, shipping and receiving. Assures that supplies, materials and outside vendor services are purchased at the optimal price and delivery schedule while maintaining lowest possible inventory levels. Experience with Epicor is a plus.
Principal Responsibilities
* Develops methods and policies that ensure the most efficient and economical movement of all materials in and out of the plant.
* Responsible for leading Purchasing, Production Control and Shipping & Receiving.
* With buyers or independently will review availability, price, delivery conditions and trends to determine present and future material availability. Directs purchasing programs accordingly.
* Responsible for proper inventory management including cycle counts and physical inventories. Oversees disposal of surplus material or scrap products.
* Reviews inventory trends and discusses variations and takes appropriate action.
* Monitors purchase orders and contracts for conformance to company policy.
* Interfaces with suppliers when serious variations arise in delivery, quality, price, or conditions of sale.
* Develop and implement procedures within the department to optimize workflow.
* Prepares data and metrics to guide decisions.
* May purchase large or complex items.
Qualifications
Bachelor"s degree in business and 5 years of experience in purchasing and/or inventory control management in a manufacturing environment or any combination of experience, education and training which would provide the level of knowledge, skill and ability required.

a. Familiarity with various operating systems.

a. Able to analyze data to make decisions related to manufacturing
scheduling, planning, purchasing and inventory levels.
b. Communicate effectively, orally and in writing
c. Supervise, train and evaluate clerical and technical employees.
