Job Title: Quality Engineer - 1st Shift

Our client is a growing manufacturing leader of precision machined components serving aerospace, defense, oil, gas, microwave technology, industrial and commercial sectors. Their team is committed to producing the highest quality work using the latest state-of-the-art equipment, technology, and manufacturing methods. The company, which serves a global market, is in Agawam, Massachusetts.
Short Term Contract (min. of 3 months)
Shift Hours: 1st Shift, 8am to 4:30pm (this role offers flexibility with the schedule, open to candidates looking for full-time, or part-time work for those seeking supplemental work).
Role & Responsibilities:
Assist in establishing and maintaining robust quality management systems for aerospace manufacturing and maintenance.
Assist with conducting comprehensive audits and inspections to assess compliance with quality and customer specifications and standards.
Oversee and evaluate suppliers to ensure the quality of components and materials used in aerospace systems.
Monitor production process and perform regular tests to identify potential problems in the early stages
Inspecting raw materials to find defects and enhance durability
Conduct root cause analysis to identify issues and implement corrective actions
Prepare reports and documentations on root cause analysis and corrective actions
Review product blueprints and quality documentations
Sets and tracks quality assurance schedule and goals
Coordinates with external Quality Assurance Auditors and Technicians to ensure compliance
Work with internal teams to improve the quality of products
Develop inspection methods to analyze product quality
Improve product quality by making recommendations for change
Work together with relevant teams and departments to improve procedures
Ensure products adhere to company, customer, and industry quality standards
Brainstorm ideas to create solutions for identified problems
Formulate a strategic plan to increase productivity
Document results and findings after inspections are carried out
Implement systems to ensure conformity and accuracy in the production process
Maintaining quality standards, compliance, and customer satisfaction.
Foster collaboration among engineering, production, and regulatory teams to achieve common quality objectives and meet company goals.
Assist with managing the company non-conformance databases
Lead problem solving activities utilizing industry standard methodologies: 8D"s, 5 why"s, 3C, DMAIC, Ishikawa fish bone diagrams, FMEA"s
Conduct internal audits and support with customer and ISO audits
Develop procedures in line with customer and ISO expectations
Assist with improvement of departmental structure and employee trainings
Perform and approve First Article Inspections
Assist in the development and distribution of quality metrics including nonconforming material, supplier performance and escapes.
Implement corrective and preventative actions
Balloon drawings and generate First Piece and FAI documents
Perform verification of regulatory and customer requirements
Required attributes:
Degree or equivalent (HNC/HND) in Aerospace, Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing or another related field
A minimum of 2 years" experience working in a Quality Engineering role within a manufacturing environment.
Aerospace Knowledge: Familiarity with aerospace quality standards.
Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally at all levels within the organization.
Fluency in written and spoken English
Organized, practical, logical in work approach
Positive can-do attitude
Excellent project management skills
Excellent drawing interpretation skills
Desired attributes:
A minimum of 5 years" experience working in a Quality Engineering role within a manufacturing environment
Working knowledge of lean principles
In depth knowledge of regulated industry standards, such as AS9100, ISO 9001
Experience of AS/ISO, NIST audits
Six Sigma trained
