What you will do:  Our Systems Engineering consultants are experts in complex product and system development with skills in systems engineering, technical project management, and team leadership. They are proactive self-starters who can orient to new situations quickly and apply logical problem-solving skills to address customers' most challenging issues. Successful Base2 Systems Engineering consultants typically have a foundation in systems design and have extensive experience in most phases of the product development life cycle. 

The nature of our systems engineering work and assignments vary depending on the specific customer engagements; our immediate needs are in the areas of requirements, architecture, verification planning, hardware qualification (environmental, structural), system safety, and cross-functional leadership in industries such as aviation, commercial space, and medical product development. 

What you will be responsible for: 

  • Assist clients with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) training and implementation. This includes system architecture, system modeling, simulation, and system diagrams.
  • Contribute and add value to client projects in the areas of requirements analysis, definition, decomposition, traceability and management; system architecture and design; system integration, system verification and validation; or technical program management, model management, cross-functional leadership, technical issue resolution, or product management 
  • Use systems engineering principles to develop an approach tailored to the need, the system, the customer, and the development organization 
  • Develop and nurture long term customer relationships 
  • Recognize client needs that may lead to additional opportunities for Base2 
  • Keep abreast of current and new methods, technologies, and tools related to your field (e.g., Agile development methods, Model-Based Systems Engineering, etc.)   

  • Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, the Sciences, or Business Administration
  • 1+ year systems engineering, software or hardware project experience
  • 1+ year experience providing customer facing training
  • Familiarity with MBSE, Unified or Systems Modeling Languages (UML, SysML), system architecture, enterprise architecture, business modeling frameworks or strong aptitude to learn
  • Ability to succeed in rigorous, fast paced, modeling language, tool, and methodology training and train-the-trainer programs
  • Dedication to apply learned skills to support and train engineers" adoption of new modeling languages, tools, and methodologies
  • Professional communication skills to build, translate, and interpret models for senior engineers in a customer environment
  • Agile, project or product management certification or experience
  • Ability to take direction from senior engineers working remotely across multiple time zones
  • Ability to travel to client sites and Base2 office 

  • Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Master's Degree in Engineering, the Sciences, or Business Administration 
  • Experience with one or more MBSE tools (e.g. Magic Draw/Cameo, Enterprise Architect, Core/Genesys)
  • Experience with Agile methods 
  • Aptitude to work collaboratively and drive consensus and alignment within and across organizational boundaries 
  • Ability to influence executives, key decision-makers, and highly technical resources 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills 
  • Ability to work onsite at client facilities 
  • Experience using the Rational Jazz Suite (e.g., DOORS NG, Quality Manager)
  • Experience working in regulated industries (e.g., aerospace, defense, medical device) 
  • Knowledge of hardware, software, or system certification processes 
  • System Safety process & artifact development (e.g. FHA, FTA, FMECA, PSAC, PHAC)
